On Saturday 2 May, from 2–8pm, The Levee Shared Zone will transform into a vibrant hub of fandom, featuring cosplay, interactive experiences, collectibles, and more.
Whether you’re a seasoned gamer, comic book enthusiast, or just love all things pop culture, this event is your ultimate playground.

- Aussie Pokemum – Handmade 3D printed Pokemon terrariums and pop culture models.
- Chris Proctor Art – a Maitland-based artist, working primarily in painting. His practice blends loose, expressive linework with humour and everyday observations, creating prints that are both funny and easy to connect with.

- Last Pack Magic – a community-focused Pokémon card shop with sealed products and singles, bringing the thrill of the final pull to collectors and players alike.

- Cosplay awards, where you can sign up on the day for a shot at a $300 voucher to your favourite Levee business. A bonus runner up prize from Pixie Dusted will be awarded to the runner up of the Master Cosplay Competition. The awards will include:

- Magnetic Shots will be providing free photos on a magnet! Gather your cosplay cronies for a group shot. When available our Cosplay Ambassadors will also be happy to be in the snap.
- Bricks 4 Kidz bring to you the ‘World of Arcade’, Lego style. Get your make on and create Mario Brothers, Brick Eater, Jumping Hedgehog, Alien Invaders, Angry Birdies, Old Sega like Packman, Mining and Crafting. Plus, plenty of fun Superheroes and Villains and epic cosplay characters.
- Local legends and organisers of Maitland Brickfest – Rainbow Bricks LUG – are showing a massive display of builds inspired by pop-culture and movie franchises. This will be an exclusive sneak peak of their Maitland Brickfest A Lego Fan Event on Sunday 17 May at Maitland High School.
- What’s a pop culture celebration without Free Comic Book Day? Comics Games Entertainment will be onsite with exclusive deals and giveaways, while Tomcat Books and Comics brings retro comics and collectibles. Plus, dive into tabletop adventures at Good Games Maitland – perfect for seasoned players and curious newcomers alike.

COSPLAY COMPETITION and program
Join the Pixie Dusted Events Princesses for an exciting Cosplay Competition and your chance to win a $300 voucher to any Levee business of your choice! With four divisions, there’s a category for everyone. Sign-ups open at 2pm on the day, with a maximum of 20 entrants per division. No pre-bookings or holds. Judging by Simon Wait, Jamie McDonald, Siofra Cosplay and Babyshivers. See below for full competition terms and conditions.

Ambassadors
Keep an eye out for our award winning cosplay ambassadors. They will be more than happy to pose for a photo for you, so go on and say hi, but before you do, check out this cosplay etiquette handbook. A special meet and greet with the princesses from Pixie Dusted Events will be held at the Cosplay Stage from 2.30pm.
Babyshivers
OzComicCon Cosplay award winner and co-owner of Pixie Dusted Events, Babyshivers champions sustainable cosplay using second-hand materials. A Disney fan and gamer, she specializes in fabrics, prop painting, and 3D printing, with professional experience for brands like Bethesda and McDonald’s.
Jamie’s Disguises
Jamie is a well-known cosplay artist, especially for his Fallout costumes, and has worked with Bethesda at PAX Australia. A comic and gaming fan, he creates with foam, sewing, SFX makeup, and props, and has represented Emissaries AU.
SIOFRA COSPLAY
Meet Erin, aka Siofra Cosplay! She is a multi-award winning cosplayer, best known for her intricate gaming builds and attention to detail. Siofra is an avid gamer and pop culture enthusiast, with a wealth of knowledge to share with others. Her passion is working with foam, leather, chain mail and fabrics.
SIMON WAIT
Simon is a cosplayer and prop maker with 12+ years’ experience, owner of Heroes and More and organiser of Newie Con. He is also an award-winning creator at Supanova and Oz Comic-Con, and was commissioned by Paramount to build a 10ft Bumblebee for the Sydney premiere of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

Having a wardrobe malfunction? So keen you’ve brought more than one cosplay? We’ve provided a space for you to fix up your costumes. Please note the Change Tent Etiquette and Conditions before entering.
Yes, there is an event information tent near the doorway to Maitland Central (Kmart shopping centre).
This is your one stop shop for all you Level Up questions as well as optional wristbands for parents and kids. Get directions to some of the best eats The Levee has to offer, complete our event survey and sign up to our newsletter The Levee Life.
Security personnel are onsite to help you. They will be wearing hi-vis vests marked ‘Security Worx’. Event staff are also here to help. They will be wearing hi-vis vest marked ‘Maitland City Council’.
Public toilets are located at The Riverlink (across from Acacia Dining) and inside Maitland Central (Kmart shopping centre).
- This is a family friendly event in a public place, revealing costumes are not encouraged
- Photography and videography will be taking place during this event. If you do not wish to be photographed please contact event staff.
- Persons under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Parents or guardians are encouraged to visit the orange information in front of Maitland Central entrance to receive an identification wrist band for their children.
- This event takes place in an alcohol-free zone. Consumption of alcohol is not allowed at Level Up at The Levee
- If requested by Council staff you must present bags for inspection and remove face coverings for identification.
- Security will be operating during the entirety of the event.
- Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Harassment is unwelcome conduct that can make a person feel offended, humiliated or intimidated in regard to their age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion.
- If you experience any behaviour that has made you uncomfortable or if you witness the same happening to someone else, please locate your nearest security, Event staff (wearing high-vis Maitland City Council vest) or attend the orange information stand located near the entry to Maitland Central.
- If you would like your picture taken with anyone, including those in cosplay or dressed in character at the event, especially another attendee, always ask permission first and respect their right to say no.
- Persons must be respectful of our neighbours during and when leaving the event.
- Persons must adhere to the instructions of the event organisers, security and the police.
- In the event of an emergency, patrons must follow the instructions of authorised and emergency services personnel.
- Organisers have the right to remove any persons not adhering to the conditions of entry.
- A range of items are prohibited from being brought into the event. This includes Illegal weapons, alcohol, illicit drugs, open drinks, flammable materials and aerosol cans.
- Imitation weapons that look identical to a real weapon are not allowed to be brought to the event. Security have the right to inspect imitation weapons prior to entry to the event site.
- Play or simulated fighting is not allowed at this event.
- Failure to comply with any conditions of entry will result in the removal of offending persons.
