On Saturday 3 May, from 2–8pm, The Levee Shared Zone will transform into a vibrant hub of fandom, featuring cosplay, interactive experiences, collectibles, and more.
Whether you’re a seasoned gamer, comic book enthusiast, or just love all things pop culture, this event is your ultimate playground.

What's on
Step into the spotlight and unleash your creativity in the cosplay competition, where you can sign up on the day for a shot at a $300 voucher to your favourite Levee business. Hosted by Pixie Dusted Events the contest will feature a kids round (under 16s), a heroes round, and a villains round, see below for the full program.
Strike a pose at the cosplay photowall, where the team from Magnetic Shots will be ready at The Bourke Street Link to capture you and your crew in all your costumed glory. Walk away with a personalised magnet as the ultimate keepsake.
Head over to Lego Lane near The Hatch for a creative escape! Marvel at incredible pop-culture displays by Rainbow Bricks LUP (the team behind Brickfest), then dive into hands-on fun with Bricks 4 Kidz – including a Character Builds Competition where you can join the light or dark side for a chance to win prizes.
For those who love the darker side of pop culture, the Newcastle Alternative Markets are bringing their signature mix of cool and creepy. Expect a specially curated lineup of stallholders offering cosplay gear, collectibles, and unique treasures with an alternative twist.
What’s a pop culture celebration without Free Comic Book Day? Comics Games Entertainment will be onsite with exclusive deals and giveaways, while Tomcat Books and Comics brings retro comics and collectibles. Plus, dive into tabletop adventures at Good Games Maitland – perfect for seasoned players and curious newcomers alike.

Join the Pixie Dusted Events Princesses for an exciting Cosplay Competition and your chance to win a $300 voucher to any Levee business of your choice! With three divisions, Junior (16 & under), Villains, and Heroes, there’s a category for everyone. Sign-ups open at 2pm on the day, with a maximum of 20 entrants per division. No pre-bookings or holds. Judging by Simon Wait, Jamie McDonald, and Miss Pixiez. See below for full competition terms and conditions.

Babyshivers
OzComicCon Cosplay award winner and co-owner of Pixie Dusted Events, Babyshivers champions sustainable cosplay using second-hand materials. A Disney fan and gamer, she specializes in fabrics, prop painting, and 3D printing, with professional experience for brands like Bethesda and McDonald’s.

Brooke Whimsy
Co-owner of Pixie Dusted Events, Brooke is a performer and historical costume enthusiast with a deep love for Disney princesses. She brings character integrity and detailed craftsmanship to her work and actively supports the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Jamie’s Disguises
Jamie is a well-known cosplay artist, especially for his Fallout costumes, and has worked with Bethesda at PAX Australia. A comic and gaming fan, he creates with foam, sewing, SFX makeup, and props, and has represented Emissaries AU.

Miss Pixiez
2024 Central Coast Masters of Cosplay winner, Miss Pixiez is known for her detailed gaming-inspired builds. A dedicated gamer and charity volunteer, she works with foam, leather, and chainmail, often appearing as a Disney Princess at family events.

Simon Wait
Owner of Heroes and More, Simon is a seasoned cosplayer and award-winning prop maker with over 12 years’ experience. He’s built props for major themed events and was commissioned by Paramount for a 10ft Bumblebee for the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts premiere.

Yes, there is an event information tent near the doorway to Maitland Central (Kmart shopping centre).
This is your one stop shop for all you Level Up questions as well as optional wristbands for parents and kids. Get directions to some of the best eats The Levee has to offer, complete our event survey and sign up to our newsletter The Levee Life.
Security personnel are onsite to help you. They will be wearing hi-vis vests marked ‘Security Worx’. Event staff are also here to help. They will be wearing hi-vis vest marked ‘Maitland City Council’.
Public toilets are located at The Riverlink (across from Acacia Dining) and inside Maitland Central (Kmart shopping centre).
The Dungeons and Drama on the Cosplay stage is a live D&D adventure 5pm on the Cosplay Stage. Prepare your spells, roll initiative, and join our three intrepid adventurers as they journey into the depths of the notorious d’Awful Dungeon to put a stop to the sinister plans of the Big Bad Evil Guy. Will our terrific trio use their skills to overcome all the puzzles, traps, and despicable denizens that the Dungeon Master can throw at them? Or will the dice gods prove fickle, and thwart our brave heroes’ heroic heroics?
- This is a family friendly event in a public place, revealing costumes are not encouraged
- Photography and videography will be taking place during this event. If you do not wish to be photographed please contact event staff.
- Persons under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Parents or guardians are encouraged to visit the orange information in front of Maitland Central entrance to receive an identification wrist band for their children.
- This event takes place in an alcohol-free zone. Consumption of alcohol is not allowed at Level Up at The Levee
- If requested by Council staff you must present bags for inspection and remove face coverings for identification.
- Security will be operating during the entirety of the event.
- Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Harassment is unwelcome conduct that can make a person feel offended, humiliated or intimidated in regard to their age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion.
- If you experience any behaviour that has made you uncomfortable or if you witness the same happening to someone else, please locate your nearest security, Event staff (wearing high-vis Maitland City Council vest) or attend the orange information stand located near the entry to Maitland Central.
- If you would like your picture taken with anyone, including those in cosplay or dressed in character at the event, especially another attendee, always ask permission first and respect their right to say no.
- Persons must be respectful of our neighbours during and when leaving the event.
- Persons must adhere to the instructions of the event organisers, security and the police.
- In the event of an emergency, patrons must follow the instructions of authorised and emergency services personnel.
- Organisers have the right to remove any persons not adhering to the conditions of entry.
- A range of items are prohibited from being brought into the event. This includes Illegal weapons, alcohol, illicit drugs, open drinks, flammable materials and aerosol cans.
- Imitation weapons that look identical to a real weapon are not allowed to be brought to the event. Security have the right to inspect imitation weapons prior to entry to the event site.
- Play or simulated fighting is not allowed at this event.
- Failure to comply with any conditions of entry will result in the removal of offending persons.
By entering the Level Up at The Levee Cosplay Competitions you agree to the following Terms and Conditions:
- Due to limited spaces a person may only enter one division of this competition.
- Entrants must supply an email address and phone number. Parents of entrants under 18 must supply an email address and phone number.
- Competitors must complete an competition entry form. Entrants under 18 must provide the contact details of their parents. Parents are also required to sign the entry form allowing their child to enter the competition. Children under 16 must be supervised by their parents at all times.
- The junior division is limited to persons aged 16 and under. All entrants under 18 must have parental permission to enter the competition. Maitland City Council reserves the right to request the winner to provide proof of identity.
- Entry to the Cosplay Competition at Level Up at The Levee will begin at 2pm on Saturday 3 May 2025. Sign-ups will be accepted from the Cosplay Stage located outside 399 High Street, Maitland NSW 2320.
- Entry into the competition is only open to anyone who attends Level Up at The Levee in person.
- Each division has a capacity of 20 entrants. Once this limit is reached no further entries will be accepted.

- Junior Division – 2pm Saturday 3 May 2025
- Villains Division – 6pm Saturday 3 May 2025
- Heroes Division – 7pm Saturday 3 May 2025
- The prize winners will receive a $300 voucher to The Levee business of their choice. Winners have 14 days to select and claim their prize.
- The total value of the prize pool is $900 including GST.
- The gift vouchers must be of a kind that can only be redeemed at the store it is purchased from.
- The winners selected by a panel of three judges must not be staff employed by Maitland City Council.
- The winners’ name will be published on thelevee.com.au and on The Levee Instagram and Facebook pages.
- Entry to the competition includes a Talent Release on any photography and videography taken during the competition. This content will solely be used to promote Level Up at The Levee, The Levee Central Maitland and other initiatives by Maitland City Council.
- If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, including but not limited to, technical failures, unauthorised intervention or security concerns, Maitland City Council reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual and to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the competition.
- The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Maitland City Council shall not be liable whether in contract or torts or otherwise for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury, which is suffered or sustained, as a result of participating in this competition or accepting the nominated prize.
