Riverside Nights

As the leaves change, so do local menus. Embrace Autumn nights and take a stroll to explore some of the best bites in town at The Levee.

Dinner and Drinks

By night, vivid cocktails and the flavours of Australia’s native food bowl are brought to life by a super stylish riverside small bar and bistro called Coquun, a local Aboriginal name for the Hunter River. Featured on the menu are saltbush, wattle, lemon myrtle and warrigal greens along with sublime locally sourced wines.

Not your average fast food

Phone ahead or pop into Aloi D Thai for quick and easy take out. You can’t go past the perfect crackling on their popular Crispy Pork. At Ometto Pizza Bar, Guiseppe Mavigilia brings the taste of Torino to town by topping his woodfired pizzas with authentic Italian ingredients like Sicilian rock salt, Salami di Napoli, porcini mushrooms and Calabrian oregano. Hot tip – order straight from the specials board and stick around for the full Italian trattoria experience.

Craft beer more your speed? Get together at The Whistler where you’ll find 16 on tap, along with great vibes and a savvy menu that includes charcuterie or veg graze boards and killer cocktail selection. An awesome Beef and Guinness Pie and house made schnitties are just the beginning of a menu that takes pub grub to the next level at Imperial Dining, while the Belmore Hotel bistro is a local institution for great steaks, burgers, shares and chef’s dinner specials Monday to Thursday.

Spice is nice

Spice up your night with spine tingling Korean favourites like sizzling beef and street-food-inspired hotteck (Korean pancakes filled with sweet syrup and peanuts), or Japanese specialties like sashimi, sticky rice and bento, all made by Korean-born Imogen Lim at her slither in the wall restaurant called Beud. (It’s Korean for kitchen!) Traditional Thai décor and classics like aromatic Choo Chee prawns and Crying Tiger, made to old family recipes, create a cosy ambiance within one of Maitland’s character filled heritage buildings at Maneeya Thai Restaurant.

Grab your jacket….it’s time to enjoy cool autumn evenings at The Levee.
